Install
Click Install beside Claude on the welcome screen, or run the official installer yourself:
curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bashIt installs to ~/.local/bin/claude and keeps itself up to date. Sikemux also finds Claude in ~/.claude/local/claude, ~/.claude/bin/claude, on your PATH, and in the pnpm, npm and bun global folders.
Claude signs in through its own flow in your browser:
claude auth loginYou can choose your Claude subscription or the Anthropic Console (API billing). Sikemux never sees or stores your Claude credentials. To check whether you’re signed in, Sikemux asks claude auth status.
How Sikemux runs it
A Claude chat speaks Claude Code’s stream-json control protocol, the protocol Anthropic’s own Agent SDK uses with the claude binary. That’s how Sikemux streams Claude’s replies, tool calls and thinking into the chat, answers its permission questions, and lets you steer it mid-reply.
Switch to TUI to run claude in a terminal instead, with everything Claude’s own interface offers.
Accounts and limits
Each Claude account is its own CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR folder, so you can keep a personal and a work account side by side. Add one in Settings → Agents → Claude → Another account.
The rail’s Limits shows how much of the selected account’s plan is used, for each window Claude reports: 5 hours, 7 days, and the per-model weekly windows. If Claude doesn’t report limits for a moment, the rail says so and offers a refresh.
Skills
Claude gets the Sikemux skills library as a Claude plugin, alongside the skills you already have. Sikemux never writes into your own ~/.claude folder.
